All on X

All-on-X

All-on-X is a modern dental implant procedure often used as a full-mouth restoration solution for people missing most or all of their teeth. The “X” in the name represents the number of implants used to support a full arch of replacement teeth, typically between 4 and 6 implants. This method provides a secure, stable, and long-lasting alternative to traditional dentures.

How Does It Work?

  1. Consultation and Planning

    • A dental professional evaluates your oral health using imaging (like X-rays or CT scans) to assess bone structure and determine implant placement.
    • A treatment plan is tailored, including the number of implants required.
  2. Implant Placement

    • Titanium implants are surgically placed into the jawbone at strategic angles to maximize stability and support for the full arch of prosthetic teeth.
    • In many cases, a temporary set of teeth is attached to the implants on the same day (this is often called “teeth-in-a-day”).
  3. Healing Phase (Osseointegration)

    • The implants fuse with the jawbone in a process called osseointegration, ensuring a strong foundation for the final prosthetic teeth.
  4. Final Prosthesis Placement

    • Once healing is complete, the permanent prosthetic teeth (custom-designed for a natural look) are secured to the implants.

Healing and Recovery Timeline

Initial Recovery (1-2 Weeks):

After the surgery, you may experience swelling, bruising, or minor discomfort. Soft foods and good oral hygiene are recommended during this time.

Osseointegration (3-6 Months):

The jawbone gradually fuses with the implants. This process can take 3 to 6 months, depending on factors like bone density, age, and overall health.

Final Prosthesis:

Once the implants are fully integrated, the permanent prosthesis is attached.
